About me

I was born in 1962 and raised in Mackay, North Queensland. I started my musical education at the age of 5 playing recorder and piano. I studied up to 8th grade AMEB on piano & did 5th grade theory. At fifteen, after leaving school, I commenced an apprenticeship in ‘Musical Instrument Repair & Tuning’.

At the age of 21, I studied the Associate Diploma of Jazz at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

I spent many years working as a full time, professional musician playing many different styles. Twenty years ago, I went back to my trade full time.

Being involved in the industry is one of my great joys and passions. For me, there is nothing quite like repairing a piano from the ground up and seeing the joy on a customers face when the instrument is returned.

I am well versed in major repairs but much of my work, which I am equally passionate about, is tuning and doing minor repairs.

Another passion of mine is recording. I have a small home studio and have spent time indulging in recording and playing music. You can hear my music at stemart soundcloud.

Writing music is another love of mine. A few years ago, I submitted some music to the Australian Music Centre in Sydney and was given Associate Artist status. I am a Recognised Australian Composer. http://www.australianmusiccentre.com.au/about
